Europe spans from the Atlantic to the Ural. Currently available scientific knowledge sets out that North-Americans are not Europeans.
Europeans, because they share the same continent, have a natural interest in fostering good relationships with Russia. As Bismark once put it “ good policy is a good treaty with Russia”.
Hence, the foreign body is the United States of America. A crumbling empire, rotting from the inside, marred by debt, led by a senile old man elected with the help of corporate media manipulations. It is the sole prerogative of the American people, to whom the people of Western Europe’s friendship will remain unwavering, to fix what they deem must be fixed in their own country.
And the people of Western Europe are confident that the people of the USA understand that being allies by no means translates into being a burden. Which the USA currently are on Western Europe, as the American “elite” is incapable of understanding that American hegemony never shall return (it has never existed in the first place). The world must be shared, it is large enough for all of us.
So, how did all this Ukraine business start? Because of a breed of human beings that must be barred from any position where they can wield any form of power: American neoconservatives, and their European copycats.
With regards to the chain of events, let’s listen to John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago. In 2015. Nothing has changed since - that’s the core of the issue.
Feels like it does not match the rhetoric pounded by the Biden administration, the “international community” and corporate medias, doesn’t it?
“NATO welcomes Ukraine’s and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations for membership in NATO. We agreed today that these countries will become members of NATO. Both nations have made valuable contributions to Alliance operations. We welcome the democratic reforms in Ukraine and Georgia and look forward to free and fair parliamentary elections in Georgia in May. MAP is the next step for Ukraine and Georgia on their direct way to membership. Today we make clear that we support these countries’ applications for MAP. Therefore we will now begin a period of intensive engagement with both at a high political level to address the questions still outstanding pertaining to their MAP applications. We have asked Foreign Ministers to make a first assessment of progress at their December 2008 meeting. Foreign Ministers have the authority to decide on the MAP applications of Ukraine and Georgia”. NATO Summit declaration, Bucharest, 2008/04/03
Joe Biden, Barack Obama’s Vice-President, was put in charge of Ukraine for this administration’s two terms. His Chief-of staff was Antony Blinken, the current Secretary of state, a staunch neocon. Victoria Nuland was in charge of Ukraine at the State Dep. Jake Sullivan, now Biden’s National Security Adviser was an adviser to then VP Biden.
In 2014, under Joe Biden’s watch, US and NATO supported the illegal coup that was Euromaidan. It saw the eviction of a Viktor Ianukovytch, the then democratically elected president. The OSCE observed the whole 2010 electoral cycle, its final report can be downloaded here.
In Washington DC and Langley, no one ever grasped a basic fact of life: subversion must be kept at a sub-critical level, otherwise its blows back in your face.
The staged Euromaidan coup quickly turned sour into a hot civil war, thanks to Ukrainian ultra-nationalists banning the Russian language and oppressing Russian speaking Ukrainian citizens. That civil war scared the bejesus out of the coup’s organizers. The resulting generalized panic in the West provided Russia with the opportunity to annex Crimea. By the way, Crimea was “given” in 1954 to Ukraine by Nikita Khrushchev and does not historically belong there. Crimea has been Russian since 1873.
The US, NATO and the EU, the very same ones that claimed in 2008 that Georgia and Ukraine will become NATO members, did not move a finger to uphold Ukraine’s territorial integrity in 2014. Why would they do it now ? Why would Joe Biden, who personally created that mess in the first place, do that now ? With what arguments and what means ? Besides billions of weapons to make-up for the losses incurred to the US military-industrial complex by the Afghan debacle.
Fifteen years in Afghanistan and now this. Proof that NATO, which held command there since 2006, is brain dead and useless.
Russia has already won. Eight years ago.
All the whining about democracy, international law etc. is a sinister comedy played by second rate actors. The inadequacy of NATO and the EU has been exposed. The aggressiveness and hypocrisy the US deep state too.
So, where do we go from here? That is if we genuinely care about Ukraine and its people.
The only solution is to tell Zelinsky to cease fire and to negotiate a neutral status for Ukraine with Russia and the EU. Most likely, the trade-off will be acknowledging Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea and a degree of autonomy for the 2 Donbass break-away provinces.
The US should not be part of this process as their national security is not at stake.
And China has a message.
