[Editorial] See Ceuta and Die
The destabilization operation ordered by the US and Israel and carried out by Morocco has fizzled into nothing. Note the sheer nobility of using human beings this way.
Let’s be clear: the deaths of those trying to cross into Ceuta are not on Spain’s ledger, nor Europe’s — they belong to whoever engineered this destabilization operation in the first place.
Morocco has, over the past twenty years or so, become an American and Israeli protectorate. The Abraham Accords and the 2020 reconciliation only sharpened the situation. What does this tell us about the mindset of Morocco’s ruling class? Why this rush among so many Moroccans to flee to Europe, if their country is enjoying such spectacular economic growth? What exactly drives the Makhzen — the state apparatus — to whip up tens of thousands of jobless young men and send them hurtling toward the border? Surely not fear of an Arab Spring? And wouldn’t it be worth asking — aren’t there elections coming up in the Cherifian kingdom this September 23rd?
